Disease Eradication and Elimination in Swine Farms

This three-day program is designed for swine health professionals who wish to deepen their expertise in the principles and practical steps of eliminating major diseases from pig herds.

The course consists of three full days of in-person training.

Participants will explore swine disease epidemiology, learn proven eradication techniques, assess economic feasibility, and understand the critical factors for long-term success. Through expert-led sessions and real-world case studies, the course covers PRRS, Mycoplasma, enteric and other key swine diseases, with a focus on strategic planning, diagnostics, cost–benefit analysis, and maintaining motivation throughout the process.

Detailed Program

3 days of in-person training.

    • 8:00–9:15: Swine Disease Epidemiology

    • 9:15–10:30: Historic of swine disease elimination & Herd consideration when deciding on a elimination program

    • 10:45–12:00: 10 questions you need to answer before embarquing in a disease Elimination process

    • 13:30–15:15: Disease Elimination technique

    • 15:45-17:30 : Diagnostic and testing strategy through out an Elimination program

    • 8:00–9:15: Enteric disease Elimination Viral

    • 9:15–10:30: PRRS and Myco the big two

    • 10:45–12:00: Other disease possible to Eliminate from the breeding herd

    • 13:30–15:15: Estimate the cost and benefit of disease

    • 15:45-17:30 : Economic model to evaluate economical feasability of Disease Elimination

    • 8:00–9:15: Common pit fall of Elimination program and where do we fail and how to prevent them

    • 9:15–10:30: How do you plan a Elimination program so everyone stay motivated and stay on track

    • 10:45–12:00: Developing Tool to insure success
